Buckland Fire/Rescue responded to its second structure fire of the day on Tower Road on Sept. 8, arriving to find a detached garage fully engulfed in flames and already collapsed.

According to the fire department, crews were dispatched at approximately 1:23 p.m. Command 51S, Engine 51S, Tanker 51S, Tanker 52S and Tanker 53S responded with 12 firefighters. Lakeland Fire was also requested to provide mutual aid with a tanker.

Upon arrival, crews found the detached garage fully involved and collapsed, said the fire department. The nearby residence was not threatened by the fire. As a result, Lakeland Fire was stood down before reaching the scene.

Tanker 51S discharged approximately 3,400 gallons of water before relocating to establish a water-fill site near Hanson Hill, said the department. After Tanker 53S exhausted its 2,100-gallon water supply, it returned to the fill station to refill using a high-volume portable pump. The fire was subsequently declared extinguished.

Members of the Prince Albert RCMP, Saskatchewan Highways, SaskPower and SaskEnergy also attended the scene.

Fire crews remained at the scene for just under three hours. A fire investigator from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) was requested to examine the scene and determine the cause of the fire, said the department.

Following the investigation request, crews cleared the scene and returned to the fire station to restore equipment to service.

No injuries were reported. The incident was Buckland Fire/Rescue’s 86th call of 2026.
