Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince Albert are set to kick off the fifth edition of the Poutine Fest from the March 13-22 with some of the best restaurants in Prince Albert.
The 10-day event will see participating restaurant to prepare and serve a special poutine that is not usually on their menu in a competition for the Gravy Bowl and the People’s Choice Award.
“This is an opportunity for people to support our organization and our local restaurants by trying the wonderful meal poutines that are not usually available on the menu,” Natasha Thomson, Development Coordinator Big Brother Big Sisters Prince Albert said. “Part  of the funds realised from the sale of these poutines by these restaurants will come to support our mentoring program which helps children and youths ignite their potentials.”
This is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program.
The participating public stands a chance to win gift cards, and anyone who buys more than two times within the ten days will also be entitled to enter into a draw for other prizes.
Also, three new restaurants will join the competition. The new entrants are the Canadian Brewhouse, Montana’s BBQ & Bar and Northern Lights Casino. All three will bring in their wealth of experience and the Prince Albert Community looks forward to trying their delicious dishes in this event.
Thomson said one thing to note this year is the slight name change. The event is now called PA Poutine Fest (rather than Poutine Week). Other than that it’s all the same gravy goodness for 10 days across the city of Prince Albert, with $4 from each poutine sold going towards youth mentoring programs for local children and youth.
The 2026 roll call of amazing poutines are Chicken Bacon Ranch Poutine -Boston Pizza, Country Chicken Poutine -Humpty’s Big Plate Diner, Korean Spicy Chicken Poutine -Lulu’s Kitchen, Pulled Pork Poutine -Montana’s BBQ & Bar, Le Boeuf Poutine -MR MIKES Steakhouse Casual, Indian Taco Poutine -Northern Lights Casino, The Loaded Shepherd’s Stack Poutine -Original Joe’s, Pizza Poutine – Rock & Iron Restaurant, Dill Pickle Chicken Poutine -Shananigan’s Bistro Coffee & Dessert Bar, Spicy Dill Pickle Poutine -The Canadian Brewhouse and Beef Stroganoff Poutine -Venice House on Central.
“We encourage the members of our Prince Albert Community to come out and try some very great Poutine, enjoy some special items on the menu that are not usually available thereby matching some youths with great mentors,” said Thomson.
The diners can “Share the Love” by posting a photo of their poutine on social media to vote for their favourite restaurant. Each vote enters participants into a daily gift card draw.
The eleven restaurants are competing for two awards –  the Poutine Choice Award (for the Restaurant with most votes) and the Gravy Bowl Champion (for the restaurant with the highest number of poutines sold).
