The Battlefords RCMP have arrested two men following a break-and-enter at a residence on Saulteaux First Nation, one of which was allegedly found hiding inside the fridge.
RCMP officers were called to the residence at around 1 p.m. on Feb. 19. They responded immediately and identified a suspect fleeing on foot up a hill in the distance.
The officers followed the suspect’s tracks in the snow. They found and arrested him at a nearby residence.
The RCMP continued their investigation and became convinced a second suspect may be hiding at the residence. According to the press release, officers returned to the residence, setup a perimeter, and began searching the interior.
Police say they located the second suspect hiding in the fridge, and arrested him.
As a result of this investigation, 26-year-old Andy Swiftwolfe from North Battleford is charged with attempting to break and enter with intent, one count of possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments.
Swiftwolfe was also arrested on a number of warrants, including failing to attend court, possession of property obtained by crime, weapon possession, and assault. He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb. 23.
Luckas Whitford, 24, from Saulteaux First Nation, is charged with attempting to break and enter with intent. Whiteford appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb. 23.
