Three suspects face charges after the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT) seized cocaine, methamphetamine, and weapons at a business on the Hwy 16 Bypass in North Battleford on Feb. 7.
The CRT was making proactive patrols in North Battleford and found a vehicle that was previously reported stolen during one of their patrols. The vehicle was in a business parking lot on the Hwy 16 Bypass in North Battleford. There were no people inside, so the CRT took possession of it.
While investigating the stolen vehicle, North Battleford CRT saw a male with a firearm inside the business. As a result, officers entered the business and arrested three men.
Officers obtained a warrant and searched a room in the business where the men were arrested. During the search, officers found and seized roughly 379 grams of powder cocaine, around 24 grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of crystal methamphetamine, a firearm, a sword, bear spray, ammunition, and a sum of cash.
The RCMP have charged 47-year-old Steven Nighttraveller from Little Pine First Nation, 34-year-old Nissar Khan from North Battleford, and 22-year-old Isaiah Pewapisconias from Little Pine First Nation with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number and unsafe storage of firearm/ammunition.
Steven Nighttraveller is also charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition when knowing possession unauthorized and fail to comply with release order condition. Isaiah Pewapisconias is also charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition when knowing possession unauthorized.
All three men made their first court appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb. 9.
