Saskatchewan’s fire chiefs capped off their three-day conference at a banquet Saturday, with Prince Albert’s own Jason Everitt seated at the table of honour.

Fire Chief Everitt said hosting the Saskatchewan Association of Fire Chiefs annual conference and trade show was a “daunting” challenge. About 180 chiefs and senior officers kept up with the latest innovations in firefighting across the province.

“A big part of our conference is allowing our delegates to explore what’s up and coming and what’s new,” he said.

The chiefs dined at Plaza 88, giving gracious speeches and passing out awards. They came from big departments like Saskatoon and Regina, and from volunteer services like Buckland.

Everitt said the conference aimed to spread the latest techniques to those smaller departments.

“We wanted to tailor the conference back to the grassroots,” he said. “We were able to provide valuable knowledge and skills to them, so they could go back to their communities tomorrow and use it.”
