The Saskatchewan RCMP have arrested two outstanding suspects on Aug. 25, allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Pelican Narrows.
Authorities said the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) deployed a remotely piloted aircraft system and an RCMP plane in order to conduct aerial searches to find the two outstanding wanted men.
Police said the two suspects were located on a remote island north of Pelican Narrows during an aerial search and were arrested without incident on Aug. 25.
On Aug. 7, police said officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residential property on Linklater Street in Pelican Narrows, where investigators determined a group of males approached a man and a woman on the property, demanding the keys to their vehicle. A firearm was discharged following an altercation which injured the man and woman—both victims were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said Pelican Narrows RCMP located the suspects travelling in a truck as they patrolled the area. The truck failed to comply with a traffic stop conducted by officers.
Shortly after, authorities located the truck and arrested three men nearby, and two of the men were released without charge.
Upon further investigation, officers said a loaded firearm was seized inside the truck.
As a result, 24-year-old William McKay, 18-year-old Mikka McCallum, 25-year-old Tyrese Sewap, and a male teenager, all from Pelican Narrows, are each facing 11 charges including aggravated assault, discharge of firearm with intent, possession of firearm with dangerous purpose, flight from peace officer, and robbery with a firearm.
18-year-old Mikka McCallum and the male teenager are scheduled to appear in court in Pelican Narrows Thursday.
