Shipping delays mean some COVID-19 immunization clinics that were supposed to offer the Pfizer vaccine will instead offer Moderna starting on Wednesday.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) made the announcement on Tuesday. The SHA says appointment times and locations will remain unchanged.
A vaccine shipment scheduled for the week of June 21 will not arrive as planned. Residents affected by the delay will receive a text or email notification, or be contacted directly by the SHA.
The Pfizer vaccine is the only one youth ages 12 to 17 can receive. Any youth affected by the delay will be contacted directly to discuss arrangements.
The SHA says shipping delays will likely happen again, and has encouraged residents to take the first vaccine offered instead of waiting.
