Two inmates who had escaped from the minimum-security Riverbend Institution of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary were arrested by members of the Saskatoon Police on Oct. 6 at about 10 a.m.
The inmates had been at large since the evening of Oct. 4.
In a press release, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) thanked the Saskatoon RCMP for their assistance arresting the escaped inmates. CSC is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff, and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system,” CSC said in a press release.
The RCMP was informed Friday at about 11 p.m. that the pair of men, 20-year-old Jesse Dion Favel and 19-year-old Noah James Lemaigre-Elliot had escaped from custody.
They are suspected to have left the institution on foot between 8 and 9:45 p.m. Friday evening.
