Prince Albert Raiders goalie stops 22 shots for the red and white en route to a 6-1 victory
A late wrist shot from Patrik Hrehorcak was the only blemish on Ian Scott’s record Friday night as he backstopped Team Canada to a 6-1 victory over Slovakia in a pre-tournament exhibition.
Maxime Comtois, Jack Studnicka, Nick Suzuki, Shane Bowers, Cody Glass and Ty Smith each scored a goal for Canada, while Glass and 17-year-old Alexis Lafrenière each added a pair of assists.
Scott made 22 saves for the victory, making his case as to why he should be Team Canada’s starter when the main tournament gets underway on December 26.
Fellow Prince Albert Raider Brett Leason missed a second straight game as he recovers from an injury suffered in Team Canada training camp when he took a shot off the hand. He remains day-to-day and is expected to be healthy by the time the main tournament begins.
Ottawa 67s goalie Michael DiPietro was expected to be the starter for the tournament, but after giving up three goals on ten shots on Wednesday against Switzerland, Scott has a shot to win the starting job.
Canada will play its final pre-tournament game Sunday vs. Finland before opening the tournament against Denmark on Wednesday.
