The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) responded to a total of 340 calls this weekend and made 58 arrests, which included drugs and weapon possessions, a break-and-enter and a robbery.
Vehicle stop results in drugs and weapon charges
A 28-year-old was caught with drugs and a weapon when police conducted a vehicle stop with open alcohol shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday.
The man was arrested and searched on the 2500 block of 6th Avenue East, when officers found a suspected .4 grams of methamphetamine, 10 oxycodone pills and a large amount of Canadian currency.
After searching the vehicle further, they also found a baton.
The accused is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of oxycodone, possession of a dangerous weapon to public peace and breach of conditions to not possess or consume drugs.
He appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
Man breaks into house and steals valuables
Police caught a 42-year-old man shortly after he broke into a house on Friday and stole keys and money.
At about 6:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to 1600 Riverside Drive for a break-and-enter complaint.
A news release said the man entered through an unlocked door.
They found him hiding in a garage with a purse, house keys and other items.
The suspect has been arrested and charged with break-and-enter and being at large of his recognizance to stay inside an approved residence during specified hours.
He answered to these charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
Police arrest suspect for robbing woman of purse
A Prince Albert man has been arrested and charged after he stole a woman’s purse.
At about 10:34 p.m. on Saturday, officers went to the area of 15th Street East and 6th Avenue East—near Grainfields—after the woman reported the robbery.
The 19-year-old suspect was located in a nearby bar and arrested.
He’s facing charges of stealing personal property and being at large of his recognizance to not consume alcohol, keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
