A fugitive arrested on stabbing charges has pleaded guilty to another offence: bashing his head against an apartment window.
Phillip Peter Charles was caught in Edmonton and transferred to Prince Albert to face charges relating to two stabbing incidents from last December. On Thursday, those charges were adjourned to June 15.
But Charles was sentenced to jail time for mischief. On October 10, 2016, a building manager reported a broken apartment window to police. An officer reviewed to footage, and recognized Charles, who also goes by the name of “Tupak.”
“It shows Mr. Charles knocking on the window and then head-butting it,” Crown prosecutor Gail Douglas said. “He was seen hanging around the building recently with some other gang members.”
When asked to speak on the charges, Charles told Judge E. Kalenith that he was sorry. Kalenith noted that Charles has a “lengthy” criminal record and sentenced him to sixty days in jail with credit for time served.
