The man charged in the 2016 death of Chris Durocher is pleading not guilty.
Through his lawyer, Ryan Clark chose to face the charge of second-degree murder before a judge alone. The court set a preliminary hearing date of September 20. Preliminary hearings give the defence a chance to test Crown evidence on key issues before trial.
Durocher was found dead in October 2016 inside a camping trailer near Christopher Lake. On March 1, after a five-month investigation, police arrested Clark in connection with the crime. He remains in custody.
