Watsonaires mark Canada’s 150th birthday at annual spring concert
The Watsonaires are celebrating Canada Day early this year.
Prince Albert’s women’s choir is holding its annual spring show this Sunday at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre and this year the group is dressing in red and white and throwing a birthday party for Canada.
“We’re celebrating Canada 150 so of course our songs are going to have to do with the country, some sacred songs that kind of slant towards patriotism and then we’re going to go into songs about different parts of Canada from west coast to east coast. There are some very nice, classical-type songs but there are also some funny songs,” Watsonaires director May Janzen said.
“We’re also honouring the veterans, so we’ve invited them to be our special guests and we’re reserving a section of the audience for them … and to finish the program, at the end we are having birthday cake.”
