Mann Art Gallery curator Jesse Campbell reflects on 2016 in art
Mann Art Gallery (MAG) director and curator Jesse Campbell said 2016 was a “fantastic” year for the gallery, largely due to the long-awaited arrival of a prominent new addition to its permanent collection.
“We finally achieved our goal of installing Mahihkan, the bronze wolf by Joe Fafard. So I think that for sure is the standout (highlight) from the Mann Art Gallery,” Campbell said.
“We spent five years fundraising to acquire that wolf, we installed it on a rainy day in May and then we had an event on the 25 of May to officially welcome the wolf to Prince Albert.”
This year also saw the P.A. Arts Board recognize the MAG’s contributions to the community by bestowing upon benefactors Diane and Roger Man the honour of being inducted into the P.A. Arts Hall of Fame.
